Initial Reactions and Appearance

The wrapper on The Cigar Guys Cuban Seed Habano is a really nice color, and though it’s a bit oily, there are no imperfections on the wrapper lief. However, there’s one vein that’s a little too thick and just a bit unsightly. It smells fantastic with some hints of wood and earth, though the unlit draw provides little flavor. I can tell it’s rolled a bit tight.

First Third

The Cigar Guys Cuban Seed Habano starts out light with grassy notes on the straight draw. It burns well, but the draw is a little tight. Little hints of dark chocolate appear on the retrohale, and there is no pepper at first. I tend to go back and forth with my opinion on pepper. Sometimes I like it a lot, but sometimes having none is a nice change of pace. As I smoke The Cigar Guys Cuban Seed Habano, I’m in a no-pepper mood so it all works out. The smoke is smooth, and the burn stays pretty even about halfway into the first third. The hash holds nicely and the draw starts to get a bit better toward the end. A small touch-up is needed for my cigar.

Second Third

Another little touch-up is needed, but it’s burning well. The chocolate flavor builds–not a sweet chocolate, but pleasant nonetheless. Grass notes are still there, taking a backseat to the chocolate. There’s still no pepper, and I can retro the entire puff. A little leathery earthiness develops in this third.

Final Third

All of The Cigar Guys Cuban Seed Habano’s flavors come together in the final third. Good hints of leather join tasty notes of chocolate, and there’s not a ton of nicotine present.

Would I Smoke The Cigar Guys Cuban Seed Habano Again?

I would smoke The Cigar Guys Cuban Seed Habano again. It’s a pleasant cigar with no glaring offenses. It’s not the most flavorful or complex stick in the world, but it’s really easy to smoke. I would definitely put this in my weekly rotation, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this cigar tastes in a year. I definitely think with time the flavors will blend together a little more.
