Initial Reactions and Appearance
La Gloria Cubana Colección Reserva has no major veins, and both the smell of the wrapper and unlit draw give off some very earthy tones.
Each of the initial puffs are smooth and sweet, but the draw becomes loose to the point where several puffs are required to get any smoke out. The draw improves a little as time goes on, but the flavors disappear, making it feel like an entirely different cigar. Some of the mild sweetness returns on the retrohale, and the draw does eventually return to normal. The first third of La Gloria Cubana Colección Reserva is by no means offensive, but it’s just bland.
Some coffee notes appear on the second third of La Gloria Cubana Colección Reserva, giving the smoke a little bit of much welcome complexity. There’s nothing else to note, save for the fact that the ash holds quite well.
The complexity of the stick goes away as it reaches its end. It’s not bitter by any means…just mild and bland.
Would I Smoke La Gloria Cubana Colección Reserva Again?
Probably not. The initial puffs had me excited, but the smoke quickly dropped in quality due to the loose draw and blandness of the stick.
