Initial Reactions and Appearance

Island Jim # Two has a unique look to it with multiple colors on the wrapper and a light color near the tip. It has a shaggy foot with no wrapper, and a quick sniff provides almost no scent. It just smells like good tobacco to me. The unlit draw is a little earthy, and there were no imperfections in the construction of the cigar.

First Third

The shaggy foot of Island Jim # Two is a bit earthy and has a tiny touch of leather to it. After the foot is burned away, the cigar provides some delicious flavors of wood. There seem to be a few leather and chocolate notes as well. More chocolate than pepper, the retrohale is incredibly smooth. Island Jim # Two is shaping up to be a medium-full bodied smoke with a really good draw. The chocolate and leather flavors are some of my favorite on a cigar, and they’re only improving as the smoke continues.

Second Third

Straight away into the second third, the leather flavor disappears and pepper becomes noticeable on the retrohale. The chocolate is still present, and the smoke turns a bit creamy about halfway through the second third. There’s not a ton of flavor at this point, and it’s a step down from the first third, but it’s still shaping up to be a great cigar.

Final Third

The final third of Island Jim # Two starts off creamy and woody. The chocolate has mellowed out, and the pepper, while not as noticeable as on the second third, is still present. Island Jim # Two becomes even creamier and sweeter as the final third progresses, and it’s ultra smooth. A final third having the smoothness of this smoke is pretty rare.

Would I Smoke Island Jim # Two Again?

Yes. There’s a ton of complexity to Island Jim # Two, the flavors are great, and both the burn and draw are perfect. This could have been a solid 5/5, but the second third was a little lame compared to the rest of the stick. Still, very solid overall.
