Initial Reactions and Appearance
HVC Edición Especial 2018 Corona is a standard-looking cigar with a classic tobacco and nutty smell to it. There are no marks, veins, or imperfections on the wrapper, and the unlit draw provides a nutty and earthy taste to match the initial scent.
The first few puffs give more of the nutty and classic tobacco flavor noted above, and as the first third progresses, there’s a lot of spice on the straight draw and a considerable amount of pepper on the retrohale. The draw is good throughout and the burn is nice and consistent. Toward the end of the first third, a nice chocolate flavor appears on the retrohale.
A huge change occurs during the second third of HVC Edición Especial 2018 Corona. The chocolate is now way more prominent, and some sweet, creamy flavors appear. The retrohale remains unchanged with the same pepper and spice from before. The draw is still good, there are no burn issues, and the smoke is incredibly smooth.
Once again the cigar changes quite a bit. The spice on the retrohale blends with some Earth, mellowing it out a bit, and the creaminess has disappeared. Despite the final third being quite strong, there is still a sweetness present. There was one burn issue during my smoke, and I had to relight the cigar, but the draw is consistent throughout. A little bit of bitterness comes out halfway through the final third, but it doesn’t ruin anything or get in the way.
Would I Smoke HVC Edición Especial 2018 Corona Again?
I would definitely smoke HVC Edición Especial 2018 Corona again. Corona vitola is my favorite, and this quick smoke is the type of cigar I can smoke any time of the day.
