Initial Reactions and Appearance
AVO 30 Year Redux 22’s wrapper is a medium-brown color and the cigar itself smells of some rich earthy flavors. The unlit draw is pleasant, but I can’t quite put my finger on what the specific taste is. There are no soft spots on the wrapper, and there are no major veins running through the leaves.
The first third of AVO 30 Year Redux 22 has a great draw, but there’s not a ton of flavor. A toasted flavor appears on the retrohale, and as the smoke progresses, some smooth and creamy flavors start to develop. Even some woody flavors make an appearance, adding to the complexity of this stick. The cigar becomes stronger overall as the first third reaches its end, and a lot of pepper flavor appears on the retrohale.
AVO 30 Year Redux 22’s second third is quite different than the first. Some extreme pepper flavors are complemented by a nutty taste on the retrohale, and the draw and burn are perfect. I can confidently say that the construction and flavor on this stick are both amazing. Still smooth and creamy, AVO 30 Year Redux 22 impresses well into the second third.
The creaminess disappears on the final third, but the woody and nutty notes are still present. A sweet flavor replaces the creaminess, and the strength of the cigar increases toward the end. The final third isn’t as good as the first and second, but it’s still impressive overall.
Would I Smoke AVO 30 Year Redux 22 Again?
